Veterans honored at Duluth's Perimeter School

Perimeter School will host their 12th annual Veterans Day program on Tuesday, Nov. 11 honoring all veterans of the U.S. armed forces.

The program is a community event open to the public and begins at 9:30 a.m. at the church on 9500 Medlock Bridge Road, Duluth.

This year, the main speaker is the honorable Col. Doug Heckman. Col. Heckman graduated from West Point, and he served in Germany, Afghanistan and Iraq. He is the recipient of the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal. Col. Heckman is a 17 year resident of Georgia.

The purpose of this program is to honor and celebrate the service and sacrifice of our American Veterans, as well as to provide a legacy of honor and history for students and the people in their greater Atlanta community.

This program began as a clasroom inspiration in 1995 and has become an impressive and exciting event that has grown beyond the walls of Perimeter Church. Last year, over 1,700 people attended the program with more than 130 veterans from all branches of the military.

A printed invitation with directions can be sent to an honored veteran by calling the Perimeter School office at (678) 405-2300, and leaving the full name and mailing address of the receipent.
