More than 400 students and mentors are coming from every elementary and middle school in the county to South Forsyth High School on Dec. 6 for the First Lego League Forsyth Robotics Regional Qualifier.
Using Lego Mindstorms technologies and Lego bricks, children ages 9-14 work alongside adult mentors to design, build, and program robots to solve real-world challenges.
This year's Challenge, "Climate Connections" calls for teams to research and present robotics technology solutions to help discover the links between science, people, resources and communities. The students unearth how we learn about past climates and delve into questions surrounding our current and future climatic conditions.
The competition will be judged in five areas: Research and presentation, robot performance, technical mechanics of the robots construction; teamwork; and gracious professionalism. The highest honor will go to the team that best exemplifies the spirit and values of the program.
