Warren named Fulton deputy county manager

There's a new deputy in town and her name is Gwendolyn Warren. Fulton County Manager Zachary Williams recently announced his selection of Warren as the new deputy county manager and right-hand employee.

She has served as director of Equal Opportunity with Broward County, Fla., but soon she will be responsible for oversight of Fulton County's Health, Human Services and Community Services departments.

More specifically, she will be responsible for the departments of Human Services, Health and Wellness, Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities/Addictive Diseases, the Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System, Arts and Culture and the Cooperative Extension Service. She will also act as Williams' liaison to the department of Family and Children Services and the Fulton County Housing Authority.

"There is no doubt that thousands of Fulton County residents rely on our important health, human and community services," Williams said. "Ms. Warren has a strong grasp of the role of social determinants in overall community well-being."

Prior to her first job with Broward as director of the Small Business Development Division, Warren – a Michigan State University graduate – worked for Miami from 1996 to 2003. Her roles there included president/chief executive officer of the Model City Community Revitalization District Trust, the director for Community Development and the director of Workforce Development.

Warren will begin work with Fulton County on Oct. 6.
