Georgia's Secretary of State Karen Handel told members of the Windward Rotary Club Sept. 8 that to avoid long lines on Nov. 4 for the General Election, they should either vote by mail or the week before the election. Handel, who spent part of the previous week at the Republican National Convention, told Rotarians she had to get rid of the status quo once she took office. Everything from uncontrolled purchase cards to warehouses full of tons of excess forms kept her busy, as did an untested data system linked online that was installed just weeks before she took office. Handel visited the Windward Rotarians at their regular meeting noon Monday at the Atlanta Marriott Alpharetta on Windward Parkway.
